Dans un article récent intitulé « Notes from the AI frontier: Applications and value of deep learning », McKinsey a partagé le diagramme de points chauds Advanced Deep Learning Artificial Intelligence Techniques Heatmap. L'équipe de McKinsey a colligé et analysé plus de 400 cas d'utilisation dans 19 industries et neuf fonctions d'entreprises. Ils ont donné un aperçu des domaines dans des secteurs d'activités spécifiques où l'utilisation de réseaux de neurones artificiels peut potentiellement générer le plus de valeur, la valeur supplémentaire qui peut être générée par ces réseaux de neurones comparativement à l’analyse de données plus traditionnelle (2e schéma) et l'exigence d'obtenir certaines données  (volume, variété et vitesse) pour que ce potentiel de valeur soit réalisé.
