How improving OEE translates into savings for food manufacturers

Learn more about OEE and how it can be beneficial for companies in the food manufacturing industry.

Machine Monitoring
How improving OEE translates into savings for food manufacturers

OEE is an effective indicator of performance and can increase a food manufacturing company’s savings by a significant amount if monitored continuously. If a food company does not have the right tools to monitor and improve its equipment performance and efficiency, production and savings will not be optimal. This is exactly the case for many companies in the food industry -- one of the most complex and machine intensive industries in the world.

Food manufacturing machines are not always equipped with the right hardware and software to provide the data insights necessary to measure OEE and reach optimal production. This where real-time data solutions can help.

Real-time sensors such as Worximity’s TileConnect and Performance Monitoring Tool allow for continuous and fast data collection for monitoring equipment performance. Real-time data collection tools:

  • Create an interface for connecting to any machine within a food manufacturing facility for OEE monitoring.
  • Increase response rates to machine or line faults by streamlining performance data such as production rate and amount of downtime.
  • Store data collected from multiple machines or lines in a network for a structural analysis of equipment performance.

Many food companies report an increase in OEE, and in turn, savings after implementing real-time monitoring solutions. Organic and non-GMO companies particularly benefit from real-time solutions as they have stricter labeling standards. Real-time solutions allow for better synchronization between equipment such as processing and packaging lines with labeling, increasing the overall efficiency of equipment performance.
